Based on-site in Culloden, West Virginia, the Senior Software Engineer will lead the development, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of Service Wire's QAD ERP environment using Progress 4GL/OpenEdge. The role emphasizes integrating the ERP with other systems and optimizing IT operations to support manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Develop sophisticated Progress 4GL/OpenEdge applications with a focus on scalability and optimization within the QAD ERP landscape.
Steer the design and deployment of new features, modules, and customizations to meet evolving business requirements.
Understand database design, tuning, and troubleshooting for Progress databases connected to the ERP system.
Implement robust data backup and recovery procedures to ensure data security and compliance.
Lead or participate in initiatives to integrate QAD ERP with various internal and external systems, ensuring seamless data flow.
Develop, test, and maintain APIs to facilitate efficient data exchange and system integration.
Collaborate with stakeholders to capture department needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Provide mentorship and training to junior developers and end-users to enhance ERP utilization and team capabilities.
Identify opportunities for system enhancements through research and proposing innovative solutions.
Remain current with developments in Progress programming, ERP technology, and manufacturing industry best practices.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of Progress 4GL/OpenEdge programming experience, with a preference for experience in a manufacturing setting.
Strong understanding of QAD ERP systems, including EE, Adaptive, advanced modules and customization capabilities.
Expertise in managing and optimizing Progress databases, with emphasis on performance tuning and security.
Advanced knowledge of QAD’s .Net UI, Qxtend integration, and eB2.0 framework is preferred.
Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and familiarity with cloud-based ERP solutions is preferred.
Experience with additional programming languages (e.g., Java, SQL) and modern development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) is preferred.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
