Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
SnapIT Solutions, LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to take technical leadership on a Department of Defense contract, guiding the upkeep and enhancement of the BH Pulse survey application and its administrative site. The role centers on delivering secure, reliable, and user-friendly web and middleware components while maintaining rigorous documentation and collaborating with the program team to implement approved changes.
Responsibilities
- Sustain and evolve the BH Pulse survey application and admin site, covering front-end, middle-tier, and related content within the .mil environment.
- Apply approved updates to survey questions, modules, user interfaces, and reporting functions in coordination with DPRR and the Program Manager.
- Perform routine maintenance, defect resolution, performance tuning, and usability improvements in alignment with SDLC and configuration-management practices.
- Collaborate with the DBA on data access patterns, reporting logic, and performance optimization for the application's database interactions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including functional hierarchy diagrams, screen layouts, tables of business rules, business process diagrams, and end-to-end relational diagrams.
- Support testing and validation of changes, including unit tests, integration tests, and user experience assessments, to ensure a stable production environment.
- Contribute to training materials and best-practices documentation for unit points of contact and behavioral health professionals.
- Participate in monthly status reporting by providing technical input on changes, downtime, performance, and system sustainment activities.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a DoD environment is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant work on web-based applications and survey or data-collection platforms.
- Strong server-side and web development experience using industry-standard application packages.
- Extensive knowledge of concurrent programming concepts, including design, development, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and deployment of new products.
- Experience with development, implementation, tracking, and identification of subordinate project requirements.
- Background in graphic arts is required.
- Experience sustaining production applications in regulated environments (healthcare, federal, or DoD), focusing on reliability, security, and documentation.
- Proficiency with version control, CI/CD practices, and automated testing.
- Ability to translate business and user requirements into technical solutions and document those solutions clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
