Job Description

Schneider Electric supports engineers who want to build meaningful software for the electrification of everyday life. This Boston, MA (hybrid) role combines technical ownership with collaboration across product and business teams. You will work on design and implementation of significant features, guide engineering decisions, and help scale the platform that supports clean energy adoption. Eligible for remote work 2 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design and implementation of significant software features enabling consumers to advance home electrification.
  • Apply broad software engineering knowledge to solve complex problems and guide less experienced engineers to help scale Schneider Electric’s platform.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the team while contributing to the overall technical direction of the platform.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of intricate software products and systems.
  • Own technical missions with autonomy to propose or develop complex solutions within a technical domain.
  • Perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting across application development and/or continuous deployment processes.
  • Provide technical leadership on projects and mentor junior software engineers.
  • Make architectural decisions that balance business needs, technical constraints, and user experience.
  • Resolve complex engineering challenges using scalable, elegant approaches.
  • Contribute to strategic technical discussions and roadmap planning.
  • Help establish and enforce engineering best practices and standards.
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to define requirements and solutions.
  • Improve system architecture and code quality while contributing to moderately complex project aspects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related field, plus five (5) years of progressive experience in software application development (or related occupation); or a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience in software application development (or related occupation).
  • Develop software applications using Python 3.10+.
  • Build automated tests for backend systems (unit and integration tests) and frontend applications (unit and end-to-end tests).
  • Create frontend applications using TypeScript with a reactive JavaScript framework.
  • Architect and deploy highly scalable applications on AWS services.
  • Design and optimize relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Use JIRA or Confluence for tracking and documentation.
  • Create dashboards for performance monitoring and alerting.

Compensation & Work Location

Location: Boston, MA (hybrid). Remote work: eligible 2 days per week.

Salary: USD 186,160 - 190,000 per year.
