Senior Software Engineer - Backend

This onsite Senior Backend role focuses on designing and evolving an external booking API, with ownership of daily technical decisions and the implementation of reliable transactional workflows. You will build and iterate backend services using Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS in New York, with a path toward broader scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Own API design and day-to-day technical decisions for an external booking API.
• Develop transactional workflows that address inventory constraints, idempotency, concurrency, webhooks, and failure recovery.
• Improve and extend booking domain and data models to support multiple product categories and integrations.
• Work an onsite schedule in NYC: Monday to Thursday, 9:30am to 5:30pm.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience with Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with Postgres and AWS (bonus: Datadog, Redis, Kafka).
• Comfort working end-to-end and establishing engineering patterns that support other team members.
• Ability to be in New York 4 days per week.

Compensation and Benefits

USD 190,000 - 210,000 per year plus technical ownership, training stipend, progression, and stock options.

Role Summary

You will be responsible for API design and ongoing technical direction for an external booking platform, implementing transactional logic that maintains correctness across constraints, concurrent operations, webhooks, and recovery from failures. You will also evolve the underlying booking data and domain models as the platform expands to additional product categories and integrations.
