Senior Software Engineer – Data and Platform Tools

Bloomberg’s Connects platform brings analytics, search, speech, computer vision, generative AI, and agentic experiences to life at scale. On the Data and Platform Tools team, you’ll help build the infrastructure that makes these capabilities reliable in production, while owning the deployment and delivery patterns behind the services.

This role focuses on end-to-end responsibility, from architecture through operations, with collaboration across backend/api, mobile, and web engineering teams. The work spans distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, and AI feature delivery.

Role overview

• Design, build, and operate the distributed services powering Connects’ analytics, search, speech, computer vision, generative AI, and agentic systems
• Build and maintain production infrastructure that runs AI features
• Contribute to the agentic core platform and tooling used across engineering and other disciplines on the product team
• Own deployment, release, and delivery pipelines, and help raise the standard for how services are shipped
• Make architectural decisions with real impact and share that knowledge across the team
• Partner with engineering teams across Connects on shared interfaces and infrastructure (backend/api, mobile, and web)
• Participate in a cross-functional agile team spanning design and engineering

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and releasing high-quality software in Python, C++, C# and/or TypeScript/JavaScript
• A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent work experience

• Google Cloud: Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Composer, Artifact Registry
• Infrastructure and delivery: Terraform, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as code, containerized workloads, orchestration
• Search and data pipelines: search infrastructure and indexing pipelines; cloud-native services

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform components including BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Composer, and Artifact Registry
• Infrastructure as code, especially Terraform
• Designing and owning CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins
• Designing, building, and operating distributed systems and services in production
• Experience owning services through architecture, deployment, operation, and evolution
• Real, current use of AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools as part of daily work
• Setting technical direction and working independently
• Building or operating LLM and agent systems in production, including evaluation frameworks
• Experience with a compiled language such as Go, Rust, or C++
• Vector databases/embeddings and Retrieval Augmented Generation
• Search infrastructure and indexing pipelines
• Experience with Speech (TTS/STT) or computer vision systems in production

Location and compensation

• Location: New York, NY (onsite)
• Salary: USD 160,000 - 240,000 per year
