Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Steer the creation of native Windows desktop applications by guiding architecture and implementation with Windows App SDK, WinUI (or related UI frameworks), using C# and XAML, with C++ involvement as needed.
  • Set and uphold best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase, covering architecture, performance, memory efficiency, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
  • Lead accessibility initiatives by integrating and validating support for Windows accessibility APIs such as Microsoft UI Automation; ensure controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, and inclusive usability.
  • Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and the Windows platform roadmap.
  • Own end-to-end feature lifecycles from concept through design, implementation, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring quality and consistency across releases.
  • Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering or compatibility issues, and propose robust architectural or design improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of Windows desktop development experience using Windows App SDK and WinUI (or similar), with C# and XAML; ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
  • Strong understanding of Windows app architecture, including interop between managed (.NET) and native code.
  • Proven track record delivering production-grade desktop applications with emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Extensive experience with Windows accessibility APIs such as Microsoft UI Automation, and a commitment to accessible software.
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals including OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multi-threading or asynchronous programming as appropriate.
  • Experience guiding technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture level decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate tradeoffs, collaborate across teams, and drive consensus.
  • User-centric mindset focused on delivering polished, intuitive, and accessible experiences for end users.
