Senior Staff Software Engineer, Integrations (Tech Lead)

ServiceNow is hiring a Senior Staff (Tech Lead) Software Engineer for the Integrations team in Santa Clara, CA. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining identity and access management (IAM) integration services that move data from external systems, such as AWS and Okta, into the Veza platform, while leading backend engineering execution and technical direction for scalable connector architecture.

Role Summary

As a Senior Staff (Tech Lead) Software Engineer, you will drive the technical direction for integration projects, establish scalable architecture and design patterns, and lead backend engineers working on IAM platform integration services. The work includes building and maintaining connector/integration capabilities that ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability, while incorporating evolving AI and ML approaches where applicable to integration workflows and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and build integrations with services such as AWS, GCP, and Azure, and resources including Box, Hashicorp, and Databricks, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Lead a team of backend software engineers, providing mentorship and guidance to support growth in skills and expertise.
• Drive the technical direction for assigned projects by defining architecture, design patterns, and best practices, and by leveraging the latest AI/ML models for integrations.
• Partner with Product, Solutions Engineering, Support, and customers to translate requirements into connector designs and prioritize the integration roadmap.

Required Qualifications

• Experience leveraging or applying critical thinking to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving, including use of AI-powered tools, automation of workflows, analysis of AI-driven insights, or exploration of AI impacts on the function or industry.
• Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience, or an advanced degree with 8 years of backend software development experience focused on areas such as data modeling, management, identity, security, or related fields.
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Golang and Java.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Experience with optimization, building databases and storage layers, or working with distributed systems.
• Experience building pluggable modular software that enables code decoupling.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies, caching mechanisms, and distributed systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation

Base pay: USD 190,900 - 334,100 per year.
