Senior Structural Engineer

WJA Design Collaborative is seeking a full-time Senior Structural Engineer to support structural design and project delivery across complex building work. Based in Seattle, this hybrid role brings you into a collaborative, integrated environment with engineers and architects, with limited travel expected for regional and national projects. You will also help mentor engineers within the firm while strengthening client relationships.

Role overview

• Lead the structural design and project delivery of building projects
• Work closely with clients and an integrated team of engineers and architects
• Guide and mentor other engineers within the firm

Location and work model

• Seattle, WA hybrid (including hybrid remote in Seattle, WA 98104)
• Flexible hybrid schedule with time in the Seattle waterfront office and time in a home office
• Projects are located regionally and nationally, with limited travel expected

• Seismic assessments and retrofits
• Engineering services for a wide variety of structures

Compensation

• $130,000–$170,000 per year, depending on experience
• Pay range listed as $130,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year

Required qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of structural engineering experience (10+ years preferred)
• Ability to lead a team of engineers through technically challenging projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis (master’s preferred; exceptional technical experience considered)
• Strong documentation skills, including drawings, specifications, and reports
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, including RAM Structural System, ETABS, and ENERCALC
• Attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to build client relationships and collaborate with project teams
• Desire to continue professional growth while mentoring and developing others
• Driver’s license (required)
• English (required)

Preferred credentials

• SE license preferred, with willingness and ability to obtain one in the near future if not currently licensed
• Professional Engineer preferred
