Senior Turbomachinery Controls Engineer
Job Description
Senior Turbomachinery Controls Engineer role at Baker Hughes focused on monitoring and supporting a global fleet of rotating machinery, performing data analysis, troubleshooting, and coordinating technical issue resolution with customers and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Serve as regional focal point for technical issues, drive issue resolution, coordinate with customers, internal experts, and other vendor organizations, conduct customized evaluations and optimization studies, and maintain alignment between site operations and iCenters.
- Monitor a diverse fleet of aeroderivative and heavy-duty gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, VSDS, electric motors, gearboxes, auxiliaries, and balance of plant equipment.
- Analyze data and alerts from Baker Hughes Monitoring & Diagnostic systems to prevent asset failures and optimize performance.
- Troubleshoot technical issues on the monitored fleet and communicate findings in writing and verbally.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including trip root cause analyses, anomaly notifications, and monthly reports.
- Perform periodic technical reviews and maintain a regular operating cadence with customers.
- Provide weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis with flexible compensation time and bonus.
- Navigate and interpret site-specific control software (MarkVI/VIe, MicroNet/Plus, RX3i/RX7i, Allen-Bradley) and engineering documents (P&ID, Instrument Lists, Wiring Diagrams).
- Collaborate with Baker Hughes Engineering teams, Project Management, and vendors to perform root cause analyses and expedite issue resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 5 years of technical experience with rotating machinery.
- Knowledge of gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, electric motors and generators.
- Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
