Job Description

APEX TK LLC is hiring a Software Engineer for onsite work in Huntsville, AL. This role supports the Missile Defense Agency Next Generation Software Office, helping accelerate and modernize resilient and secure Missile Defense System software development, integration, and delivery. You will contribute to on-demand and cloud-based capabilities for system-of-systems development, integration, and testing.

What you’ll do

Provide technical and engineering analysis to support development of on-demand and cloud-based software used across system-of-systems development, integration, and testing. Work focuses on analysis that enables reliable software delivery into complex mission environments.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Master’s degree in a STEM field and 12+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program/project.
  • Experience designing, developing, and managing software libraries, along with cloud-based software architectures and requirements.
  • Experience with hardware in the loop (HWIL) and cloud-based testing to support software development and delivery.
  • Experience managing and reviewing application programming interfaces (APIs) and interface control documents, including enabling software utilized in cloud-based and HWIL environments.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence development, including tooling and agentic operations.
  • Ability to work independently, as a team member, or leading teams and tasks, applying engineering rigor to resolve engineering and scientific problems.

Desired skills

  • Cloud and containerization: practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including migrating legacy enterprise applications to cloud-native architectures.
  • Agile and DevSecOps: working knowledge of Agile and Lean principles within a secure DoD DevSecOps framework.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): experience deploying IaC tools such as Terraform and Ansible to create reproducible, auditable, and secure cloud environments.
  • Configuration management and version control: experience using Git to support policy-as-code, baseline management, and compliance configurations.
  • Clearance: Top Secret clearance or the ability to qualify for one.

Salary: USD 120,000 - 160,000 per year.

Education: Master’s degree in a STEM field.
