Software Engineer

The Software Engineer role supports the full software lifecycle for critical counter UAS and missile defense solutions at Leidos, with onsite work in Huntsville, AL. The position focuses on Linux-based development and delivery, including contributions across team workflows in a SAFe environment.

Role Summary

As a Software Engineer, you will develop and troubleshoot software components in a Linux environment for counter UAS and missile defense applications. Work includes implementing functionality using C++ and Python within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) process, coordinating through tools such as Jira and Gitlab, and applying established software engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop software for use in a Linux environment
• Develop software in a SAFe environment using Jira and Gitlab
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to implement required software functionality
• Apply software best practices including peer reviewing and unit testing
• Debug and troubleshoot software in a HWIL (hardware-in-the-loop) setting

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET-accredited university with 4+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience
• Strong competency in at least C/C++ and Python
• Experience applying software engineering practices across the software lifecycle
• Experience with software best practices including peer reviews, automated testing, and document generation
• Experience collaborating with functional groups such as systems engineering, electrical engineering, and test to deliver a software product
• Experience working in an Agile environment (or equivalent)
• Experience using tools such as Jira and Gitlab (or equivalent)
• Experience developing in a Qt IDE (or equivalent)
• Experience developing within a Linux environment
• Experience troubleshooting and testing software in an HWIL environment
• Currently living in Huntsville, AL or willing to relocate
• Ability to currently hold or obtain a Secret clearance

Compensation

• Pay Range: USD 87,100 - 157,450 per year
