Job Description

Join Discord as a Software Engineer on the Developer Success team, focusing on building tools for game developers across the Discord app, developer portal, APIs, real-time infrastructure, and the Social SDK. You will own end-to-end projects from design through post-launch, delivering features that will be used by millions of people. This onsite role is based in Walnut Creek, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Build features for game developers across the Discord app, developer portal, APIs, real-time infrastructure, and Social SDK.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to write, review, and ship code that is elegant, scalable, and capable of reaching a vast audience.
  • With team support, own projects end-to-end from initial design through post-launch, translating high level ideas into concrete tasks and milestones and delivering them.
  • Engage with game developer partners to understand their needs and improve features and tools, which may involve participating in partner meetings as a technical resource or coordinating with the DevRelations team to address questions.
  • Work with product managers, designers, and partner managers to navigate ambiguity and chart the path forward.
  • Apply careful attention to detail to continually raise the quality of the software produced.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience with game development.
  • Experience with parts of the tech stack: Python, Elixir, Rust, TypeScript/React, or C++. You do not need expertise in all of them, but you should be comfortable picking up new languages and learning new systems.
  • A sense for product and design, with readiness to collaborate closely with cross-functional peers and contribute opinions to produce strong outcomes.
  • A growth mindset, willingness to explore new code, learn, and seek help when blocked, and the ability to learn from mistakes as a team.
  • Active use of AI coding tools to accelerate productivity.
