Software Engineer II, Autonomy Platform, Data and Tools
Job Description
Software Engineer II on the Platform, Data and Tools team within Amazon Robotics' Autonomous Mobility, focusing on onboard mapping, perception, motion planning and control software, and building ML training and deployment pipelines and data tooling.
Responsibilities
- Improve runtime performance of core algorithms by leveraging hardware acceleration capabilities.
- Integrate new sensors and hardware components into the autonomy software stack.
- Develop and tailor the Nvidia JetPack based platform and operating system.
- Build data pipelines and tooling to support the ML development workflow.
- Create software for remote diagnostics, recovery, and control of autonomous robots.
- Develop visualization tools to analyze and debug robot behavior.
- Design and implement software interfaces for hardware testing and manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices across the full SDLC, including coding standards, architectures, code reviews, source control, CI/CD, testing, and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CUDA kernels or ML/low-level kernels
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++
- Experience working in a cloud-based development and production environment such as AWS
- Experience building tools for building, testing, releasing or monitoring
- Experience in Unix or device technologies under development, familiarity with flashing firmware, basic device debugging and reading/pulling device logs
- Experience building custom distributions using Yocto or Buildroot
