Software Engineer III
Job Description
Airlines Reporting Corporation's Traverse team in Arlington, VA is seeking a Software Engineer III to contribute across the full product stack, shaping software from concept through delivery. This hybrid role blends hands-on development with collaboration among Product Owners, Solution Owners, and senior technical staff to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Implement software solutions using design patterns and industry best practices to optimize product delivery and feature enhancements.
- Collaborate with product owners and business SMEs to analyze needs and craft a supportable, sustainable engineered solution that aligns with business goals.
- Lead the creation and modification of product portfolio components, coordinating with the necessary technical resources to deliver solutions consistent with ARC architecture and development standards.
- Develop applications following industry best practices and adopt new methodologies that increase flexibility and agility for the business.
- Stay current with the latest development tools, technologies, patterns, and methodologies; communicate results and ideas clearly to key stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years of application programming across front-end UI, server-side, and database queries, with experience across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- 3+ years of full-cycle application development, including design, development, and delivery.
- 1 year of experience with Agile, Scrum, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
- 2 years of experience using modern technologies including AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB), microservices and containerized architectures, and open-source technologies such as Node.js, Python, Java, and React.
- Working knowledge of integrating AI and LLM APIs into production applications, with knowledge of RAG, vector databases, LLMs, and prompt engineering.
- Experience with AI coding tools such as GitLab Duo, GitHub Copilot, Cursor IDE, and similar tools to accelerate development workflows.
- Ability to translate functional requirements into technical requirements and define comprehensive solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage with internal and external customers at all management levels.
- Intellectual curiosity to challenge existing approaches and explore changes to meet evolving business and market needs.
- Commitment to supporting peers to meet timelines on larger projects.
