Software Engineer – Weapons Planning
Job Description
DS2 is hiring a Software Engineer to build feature-rich software for weapons planning and mission-focused decision support.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and demonstrate feature-rich applications and R&D projects
- Work on the Next-Generation Open Mission Planning System for the DoW
- Communicate long-term project vision, then translate it into detailed features and feasible software designs
- Create an architectural foundation to support large-scale solutions
- Continuously learn emerging technologies and programming tools to keep skills current across the team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field
- 9+ years of experience in software engineering
- Background developing mission planning applications for the DoW
- Actively programming with one or more of: C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript
- Experience with web frameworks including one or more of: React, Node.js, Vue.js, Next.js, ASP.NET, Angular
- Strong fundamental skills in software design and development
- Ability to coordinate the team’s workflow
- Collaborate with teammates in virtual and face-to-face settings to plan projects, resolve issues, and present solutions to clients
- Manage time effectively and prioritize team tasks to support on-time delivery
- U.S. Citizenship required and must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Salary
- USD 85,000 - 105,000 per year
Preferred qualifications
- Experience developing containerized microservices in a Kubernetes environment
- Examples of code or applications to review
- Proficiency across multiple IDEs, languages, or frameworks
- Background taking an entire development through launch
- Demonstrated proficiency with AI-assisted software development workflows
- Scrum, Microsoft, Google Developer certifications, or other technical certifications
