Sr. Electrical Engineer - Embedded Hardware
Job Description
This position concentrates on designing, validating, and supporting embedded hardware for HVAC control products from concept through production. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead hardware development, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, compliant systems.

- Salary: USD 125,000 - 145,000 per year
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
- Experience: 5+ years of embedded hardware design experience for production products
Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design of embedded control hardware for HVAC systems from concept to production.
- Perform feasibility studies, trade-offs, design calculations, and technical risk assessments to support concepts and design decisions.
- Develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for microcontroller based control systems, including sensor interfaces, power supplies, relay and triac drivers, and communication interfaces.
- Create electrical schematics, select and qualify components, define PCB layout criteria, and review layouts for functionality, reliability, thermal performance, and EMC compliance.
- Evaluate prototypes and engineering samples through hardware validation, firmware integration, bench testing, troubleshooting, and design refinement.
- Plan and execute electrical design verification activities, covering performance, environmental, reliability, and regulatory testing.
- Participate in design reviews, FMEA activities, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Collaborate with Firmware, Mechanical Engineering, PCB Layout, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, and Operations to support validation, pilot builds, production launches, and sustaining engineering.
- Support existing products through improvements, component changes, cost reductions, field issue investigations, and production issue resolution.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of embedded hardware design experience for production products, including analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuitry.
- Experience with schematic design, component selection, PCB layout review, hardware validation, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to support products from concept through validation, production launch, and sustaining engineering.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HVAC, appliance, industrial controls, or similar embedded control products.
- Experience with power supply design, sensor interfaces, relay/triac drivers, communication interfaces, UL/CSA/FCC compliance, FMEA, reliability testing, or component qualification.
- Experience with cost reduction, product improvement, field or production issue resolution, mentoring, or technical leadership.
