Sr. Principal Electronics Communications Engineer
Job Description
Senior Electronics Communications Engineer at Northrop Grumman in Palmdale, California. This on-site role leads integrated development, architecture and requirements development, and supplier management for avionics communication programs, with up to 25 percent travel.
Compensation and Location
Location: Palmdale, CA (onsite). Salary range: USD 142,200 to 213,400 per year.
Responsibilities
- Execute the program technical baseline while coordinating appropriate suppliers to ensure requirements are met on schedule.
- Support the program manager in maintaining the technical, cost, and schedule baselines for contractual development activities.
- Lead a cross-discipline engineering team to achieve the program's technical objectives.
- Work independently to proactively identify and address risks and issues, escalating to the relevant engineering teams and program leadership.
- Provide oversight of program laboratories and align new capabilities with an enterprise system certification plan.
- Address and resolve deliverable subsystem performance concerns using program tools and systems on behalf of the leadership team.
- Identify opportunities for cost and schedule improvements and drive implementation with engineering teams in accordance with approved program processes.
- Provide hands-on support for risk reduction activities in laboratories and production facilities.
Requirements
- A STEM degree with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience working with Communications, Payloads, and Network subsystems.
- Experience integrating complex subsystems using System Engineering best practices.
- Experience collaborating with operations to gather feedback and requirements to ensure delivered systems meet customer needs.
- Experience briefing technical material in large group settings, including design reviews, program management reviews, and internal executive briefings.
- U.S. Citizen with an Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance or Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable timeframe as determined by business needs.
