Job Description

The Technical Support Engineer, Business Systems will manage user-focused support for the Odoo ERP and related systems from the Houston area. The role emphasizes internal user assistance, access control, and driving change-management initiatives, with on-site duties and collaboration with external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for elevating the technology experience of Maddox employees and partners within Odoo, the open-source, self-hosted ERP.
  • Provide friendly support for other Maddox systems, especially those that interface with the ERP, and cultivate deep knowledge of the ERP implementation and adjacent systems.
  • Respond to internal user requests with a professional customer-success mindset and resolve issues promptly.
  • Grant system access, investigate and troubleshoot software and hardware issues, coordinate with external support and development partners, resolve both documented and novel problems, and help shape the ERP roadmap to reflect key initiatives.
  • Proactively ensure Maddox team members can operate effectively within the business systems, and help stakeholders identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Coordinate change-management activities to enable success, including handling access-control and segregation-of-duties efforts through to completion.

Requirements

  • Current professional experience is required.
  • Experience administering and supporting business systems closely related to enterprise resource planning is required.
  • ERP platform administration or support is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and promptly via phone, email, and chat with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Enjoy working with customers across varying levels of technical understanding.
  • History of effectively managing external vendor relationships to deliver tangible results aligned with company objectives.
  • Strong situational awareness to balance courtesy and professionalism in interactions with employees and vendors at all levels.
  • Team-oriented approach that prioritizes collective success over individual heroics.
  • Demonstrated systems thinking and a proactive, self-starting work style.
  • Ability to triage, research, and resolve complex business problems across contexts including ERP environments.
  • Solid technical background and quick adaptability to new technologies and user/business contexts.
  • On-call availability for urgent needs.
  • Some travel between Maddox locations may be required.
  • In-person at the Houston (The Woodlands) location.

Location, Schedule, and Travel

This is an on-site role based in Houston, The Woodlands, with standard hours typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On-call duties and limited travel between Maddox locations may be required.

Compensation

Starting compensation ranges from $70,000 to $100,000 per year, with potential bonus and a comprehensive full-time benefits package. Compensation is complemented by additional intangible and financial benefits that contribute to overall earnings.

The Systems Support team also handles friendly support for other systems that touch the ERP, with emphasis on cross-functional impact across the organization. A deep, internalized knowledge of the ERP and related systems will be developed over time.

Team tools include MacBook Pros with docks and multiple external displays for staff, iPads and peripherals for shop personnel, and a BYOD mobile policy with support for both iOS and Android devices.
