Job Description
On-site Test Engineer II/III in Burbank, CA, focused on testing, designing, and developing aerospace and electronics products. This role involves leading test activities and applying CAE tools to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to achieve target product performance and cost objectives.
- Incorporate quality and producibility considerations into the design process.
- Define, understand, and follow company and regulatory guidelines to ensure a safe operating environment.
- Support ongoing process improvements such as Kaizen and 5S to maintain an organized and efficient workplace, plus encourage personal development.
- Communicate effectively in written and spoken English for technical reports, presentations, analyses, and related communications across the organization.
- Interpret, decompose, and specify product and process requirements to support development, sustaining, and research activities.
- Plan, estimate, prioritize, and oversee work tasks to align with project schedules and budgets.
- Apply experience and judgment to set and achieve objectives.
- Create design and development work of appropriate complexity that satisfies customer specifications and company requirements for schedule, cost, producibility, quality, and reliability.
- Apply structured problem solving methods, documentation, and analyses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for technical challenges in development and sustaining activities.
- Create and review development documentation such as proposals, technical reports, procedures, and correspondence to meet customer and program requirements.
- Remain self-directed and motivated while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, quality, and business functions.
- Support Integrated Product Team activities in coordination with technical, operations, quality, and business functions.
- Lead and manage a cross functional team to achieve safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets on capital test engineering projects up to $500,000.
- Design test hardware and software, select and procure equipment to achieve required accuracy, and assemble automated test systems of medium to high complexity.
- Develop, code, and debug computer and data acquisition systems for automated testing using LabVIEW, TestStand, or equivalent tools.
- Deliver design packages with descriptions, wiring schematics, diagrams, photographs, and bill of materials to enable accurate reconstruction of test equipment and systems.
- Ensure test data is well-organized, accurate, and properly archived.
- Develop test procedures from specifications.
- Perform calculations to determine equipment specifications, design margins, test setups, and limits.
- Anticipate and mitigate potential hazards and unexpected events during tests.
- Maintain written documentation, configuration control, and validation of all software produced.
- Develop software for analyzing test data.
Requirements
- Test Engineer II: 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- Test Engineer III: 5 years of relevant work experience.
- BA or BS Degree in an engineering discipline; Masters or PhD preferred.
- Hardware design experience including analog and digital circuit design, microprocessor/microcontroller design, automated test system design, and programming of data acquisition systems, software development and verification, requirements development and verification, test procedures development, and configuration management in a regulated environment.
- Ability to direct test programs, maintain schedules, control costs, design test systems, analyze data, and lead technicians and other technical personnel.
- Ability to generate engineering schematics and diagrams.
- Experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar system-design platforms.
- SPICE familiarity.
- CAD, schematic design, and PWB layout experience.
- Troubleshooting, failure analysis and communication interfaces (e.g., ARINC429, CAN, RS232, I2C).
- This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information; only US Persons will be considered where required. ITAR compliance applies as a DoD contractor.
- Requires satisfactory background check.
- FAA sensitive positions require participation in a random drug testing pool.

Preferred Qualifications

Working Conditions
- Standard office environment and typical manufacturing environment conditions.
- Manufacturing operations may require safety equipment such as eye protection, gowning, masks, hearing protection, and other PPE.
- Possible exposure to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes.
- Ability to work with small to medium size hand and power tools.
- Occasional travel to customer sites and outside test labs for technical interchange meetings, design reviews, product testing support, and technical seminars.
- Domestic and international travel up to 10 percent.
- Standing approximately 10 percent, sitting approximately 90 percent.

Salary Range
Test Engineer II: USD 95,700 - 111,600 annually
Test Engineer III: USD 120,102 - 138,584 annually
