Transportation/Roadway Engineer V
Job Description
Ardurra Group, Inc. is seeking a Transportation/Roadway Engineer V to support FDOT roadway design work in Maitland, FL (onsite). This role focuses on developing contract plans, specifications, and estimates, guiding design efforts, and ensuring quality through coordination and technical review.
Project Focus
The successful candidate will contribute to a wide range of transportation-related design projects, producing contract plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for construction. The position includes hands-on engineering involvement across the full project design delivery process, with responsibility for leading and supervising roadway-focused design tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform process design for multi-discipline transportation engineering projects, including evaluating alternatives, conducting engineering studies, and completing engineering design calculations and both preliminary and detailed design.
- Provide technical expertise to support compliance with design intent, project scope, and applicable state and federal design criteria and standards.
- Develop contract plans and prepare technical specifications and cost estimates.
- Assist with project execution and delivery through development of project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Own day-to-day coordination of engineers, designers, and technicians assigned to a specific project.
- Conduct quality control reviews of engineering deliverables, including design calculations, models, drawings, reports, specifications, and estimates.
- Support marketing and business development efforts.
- Coordinate and communicate with internal and external partners, including clients, discipline leads, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and utility companies.
Expertise and Leadership Scope
The Engineer V role includes expert judgment and analysis to support design, development, and implementation of technical products and systems. The individual resolves complex technical issues and may recommend design changes to improve the quality of technical products and procedures. Work is performed with a high level of independence, and the role may include team lead responsibilities for the work group.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college.
- 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in transportation design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Florida is highly desired.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microstation and OpenRoads Designer, with the ability to train and supervise the technical work of engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Experience preparing final design plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Strong verbal communication and technical writing abilities.
- Strong analytical problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
