On-site opportunity at Stanford Court Hotel, perched atop Nob Hill in San Francisco. This contract role is based at a historic 393-room property located at the corner of California and Powell, with easy access to the city’s dining, shopping and cultural attractions.

The role provides a structured schedule and the support of a seasoned engineering team led by the Chief Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, prioritize caulking and grouting needs in guest bathrooms.
  • Support preventive maintenance in guest rooms within the Utility framework as assigned.
  • Complete work in compliance with local, state and federal codes as instructed.
  • Maintain a Monday through Friday schedule under the supervision of the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience in a hotel or related field.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a hotel, building, hospital or dormitory setting.
  • Professional caulking and grouting experience is required.

Physical requirements

  • Flexible and long hours may be required. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday morning shifts.
  • Repetitive work with physical exertion: occasional lifting over 100 pounds, frequent lifting over 50 pounds, and constant lifting over 20 pounds to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.

  • Listen attentively, understand concerns, and clarify as needed while providing courteous service.
  • Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and staff in a service-oriented and professional manner.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings; maintain regular attendance per Highgate standards.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and proper uniform with nametag; comply with safety standards and hotel policies.
  • Identify problems and contribute to solutions to improve productivity and operations.
  • Demonstrate initiative and anticipate guest or operational needs while maintaining confidentiality when required.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management, including an 89-day project focused on hotel bathroom work with emphasis on caulking and grouting.
