Senior Power Systems Protection Engineer
Job Description
Senior Power Systems Protection Engineer responsible for the design and analysis of electrical protection systems, relay configuration, and short-circuit/arc-flash studies, leading projects for transmission and distribution protection in Olympia, WA or Anchorage, AK.
Responsibilities
- Perform protection coordination studies for transmission and distribution networks from 5 kV to 230 kV
- Develop relay protection configuration files for substations and small to medium generation assets
- Carry out short-circuit and arc-flash hazard analyses
- Review event reports and test results, supporting field commissioning activities
- Produce detailed protection design drawings and comprehensive technical documentation
- Manage projects end-to-end from kickoff to closeout, including data tracking, client coordination, and schedule management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- 5+ years of experience in power system protection and control
- Strong knowledge of protective relay theory and application (SEL, GE Multilin, etc.)
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe
- Experience with short-circuit modeling tools such as ETAP, SKM, or ASPEN is a plus
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to write technical reports and lead client discussions

Compensation
- Salary: USD 125,000 - 175,000 per year
