Job Description

Senior Power Systems Protection Engineer responsible for the design and analysis of electrical protection systems, relay configuration, and short-circuit/arc-flash studies, leading projects for transmission and distribution protection in Olympia, WA or Anchorage, AK.

Responsibilities

  • Perform protection coordination studies for transmission and distribution networks from 5 kV to 230 kV
  • Develop relay protection configuration files for substations and small to medium generation assets
  • Carry out short-circuit and arc-flash hazard analyses
  • Review event reports and test results, supporting field commissioning activities
  • Produce detailed protection design drawings and comprehensive technical documentation
  • Manage projects end-to-end from kickoff to closeout, including data tracking, client coordination, and schedule management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • 5+ years of experience in power system protection and control
  • Strong knowledge of protective relay theory and application (SEL, GE Multilin, etc.)
  • PE license preferred or ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe
  • Experience with short-circuit modeling tools such as ETAP, SKM, or ASPEN is a plus
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to write technical reports and lead client discussions

Compensation

  • Salary: USD 125,000 - 175,000 per year
