Join Mastercard’s Portfolio Intelligence team and help design, build, deploy, and scale full-stack, real-time interactive applications that turn Mastercard’s data assets into actionable analytics. This hybrid role in Arlington, VA 22203 focuses on delivering secure, scalable software across the technology stack, with collaboration across global teams.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, test, deploy, and improve full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, Angular, PostgreSQL, SQL, and Snowflake.
- Develop scalable microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems for real-time analytics and reporting.
- Create intuitive, responsive, high-performing user interfaces that present complex data as meaningful insights and support strong customer experiences.
- Translate business and product needs into secure, scalable, maintainable, and testable solutions.
- Design and optimize database structures, queries, and data models for large-scale, data-intensive applications.
- Apply strong engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, automated testing, code reviews, and CI/CD.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Engineers, and other stakeholders across global teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes.
- Continuously improve performance, reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence.
- Participate in Agile planning, estimation, prioritization, and delivery, while owning technical results.
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate coding, refactoring, testing, debugging, documentation, and code reviews with appropriate engineering judgment and human oversight.
- Mentor teammates, share technical knowledge, and help build a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
- Follow Mastercard security policies and practices, maintain confidentiality and integrity of accessed information, report suspected security violations or breaches, and complete mandatory security trainings per company guidelines.
What you bring
- Extensive experience developing enterprise-scale full-stack applications across backend services, frontend development, and database technologies.
- Strong experience designing and developing Java applications, Spring Boot services, RESTful APIs, and microservices in enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with React, Angular, and JavaScript/TypeScript for responsive web applications.
- Proven ability to design modern, responsive, and intuitive user interfaces.
- Strong skills in database design, data modeling, SQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Solid understanding of microservice architecture, distributed systems, API design, and cloud-native development practices.
- Strong foundation in object-oriented design principles, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
- Experience with event-driven applications, scalable distributed systems, and data-intensive applications.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and software quality across delivery activities.
- Strong grasp of modern software engineering practices including automated testing, CI/CD, Git-based development, code reviews, observability, and operational readiness.
- Ability to work effectively in an Agile engineering environment, contributing to technical decisions and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make thoughtful technical decisions with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Hybrid work and collaboration
- Hybrid role in Arlington, VA requiring three days per week onsite.
- Collaborate with teams in Arlington, VA, New York City, NY, and Pune, India.

Compensation
Arlington, Virginia: $132,000 - $212,000 USD (yearly).
