Associate Software Engineer / Software Engineer

Build secure, scalable software for the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) on Engagement and Track Management Agile Software Teams. This on-site role in Huntsville, AL supports hands-on development across the full lifecycle, including design, documentation, testing, and debugging in a SAFe Agile environment.

What you’ll be working on

As an Associate Software Engineer / Software Engineer, you will contribute to applications and software systems that implement logical and mathematical solutions aligned to program objectives. You’ll collaborate with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Scrum teams to develop and maintain software products across multiple baselines for the IBCS program, balancing delivery pace with high expectations in a fast-moving, collaborative setting.

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug software solutions aligned with program objectives
• Participate in SAFe Scrum teams to develop and maintain IBCS software products across multiple baselines
• Perform software development and upgrades across multiple programming languages/versions while minimizing changes to operational behavior
• Support documentation creation and updates using Markdown and collaboration tools
• Support testing activities including unit and functional testing, code coverage analysis, and static code analysis
• Contribute to continuous improvement of test effectiveness and automation

Key skills and experience

• Associate Software Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 1 year of relevant experience
• Software Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM field with 0 years of relevant experience
• Strong object-oriented development experience using Java and C++
• Proficiency in Linux development and runtime environments; experience with Bash and Python
• Experience with Git / GitLab and modern configuration management
• Experience with Agile SAFe and Atlassian tools including Jira and Confluence
• Active Secret Clearance
