Controls Systems Engineer

The Controls Systems Engineer will design, implement, and maintain process control and automation systems supporting plant production, quality, GMP, and safety objectives. This onsite role at the Argo Plant in Bedford Park, IL focuses on DeltaV and Rockwell platforms and involves coordination across engineering disciplines to deliver reliable control system performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure instrumentation, control systems, and documentation for assigned unit(s) can meet plant quality and production goals and support business needs.
• Identify and implement improvements to instrumentation and control systems while supporting effective Management of Change, including PSM and validation considerations.
• Maintain knowledge continuity through subject matter expertise in an element of the site control system.
• Manage assigned capital projects within approved cost, schedule, and scope constraints.
• Participate in control systems lifecycle planning to support continued serviceability as systems approach obsolescence.
• Drive continuous improvement in plant automation, building professional capabilities to improve process efficiency and control system reliability.
• Research and evaluate new technologies and applications that may benefit the business; share knowledge and provide support across the group, other plants, and internal customers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, automation, or a related field, or relevant experience in automation and controls.
• Proven experience working with DeltaV systems in a manufacturing environment such as food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or similar regulated industry (preferred).
• Demonstrated knowledge of PLC and DCS hardware and software, as well as data historians.
• Project management experience with a record of successful projects.
• Mastery of the theory of operation, application, specification, installation, and tuning of control valves and measurement devices.
• Network infrastructure experience; Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is a plus.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts and principles.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.

Compensation and Incentive

Pay Range: USD 84,400 - 112,533 per year.

Incentive Compensation: As part of the total compensation package, eligibility may include the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
