Job Description

The Data Engineer role at Citi is a senior position focused on shaping and delivering new or updated application systems and programs, with responsibilities spanning analysis, development, and collaboration across technology teams. This on-site opportunity is based in Tampa, Florida.

Summary

In this AVP level capacity, you contribute to the planning, design, and deployment of applications while participating in analysis and programming activities within Citi’s Technology organization. The role emphasizes delivering robust data engineering solutions that meet business needs and align with enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform feasibility studies, estimate time and cost, contribute to IT planning, assess risk, guide applications development, and develop models; establish and implement new or revised systems to meet specific business needs.
  • Monitor and manage all stages of the development lifecycle, including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation; provide user and operational support for business users.
  • Apply deep specialized knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems, evaluate business and system processes, and reference industry standards to inform judgments.
  • Recommend and implement security measures during post-implementation analysis to ensure sound system design and functionality.
  • Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, propose advanced programming solutions, and assist with customer exposure systems.
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining operating standards and processes.
  • Serve as an advisor or coach to new and junior analysts, fostering growth and knowledge transfer.
  • Operate with limited direct supervision, exercising independent judgment and autonomy when appropriate.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to senior stakeholders and team members, assessing risk in business decisions and upholding the firm’s reputation and asset protection by promoting compliance and ethical conduct.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in data engineering or related fields.
  • Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications.
  • Proven track record in managing and delivering successful projects.
  • Working knowledge of consulting and project management techniques and methods.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to deadlines or changing requirements.

Experience and Education

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or university degree, or equivalent experience.
