Job Description
Electrical Design Engineer role at Spang Engineered Solutions, a division of Spang & Company, based in Pittsburgh, PA with a hybrid remote work arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, professional responses to customer inquiries seeking design support.
- Assess each request to determine the most appropriate path, which may involve a full design, a preliminary design, follow-up questions, or redirecting to another solution.
- Package design proposals in a clear, compelling format designed to elicit positive customer reactions and secure project buy-in.
- Maintain and enhance software used for inductor design to ensure accuracy and usability.
- Develop new design software as required, including evaluating and selecting suitable tools through research and testing.
- Support production teams in the United States and China by answering questions and proactively anticipating questions that arise during design transfer and manufacturing.
- Learn and operate SES electrical test equipment to validate designs and support testing procedures.
- Assist in sourcing materials and components by coordinating with purchasing and production teams in the US and China.
- Lead New Product Transfer efforts by collaborating with engineering and manufacturing personnel to smoothly move new products to the production line.
- Create procedures, checklists, and test specifications for manufacturing personnel to ensure consistent production and quality testing.
- Provide training to manufacturing personnel on new product test procedures to ensure proper execution.
- Travel up to 25 percent to SES manufacturing locations or to meetings with potential customers as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience in analog design
