Job Description

NetAlly is seeking an experienced Electrical Hardware Engineer IV to join its team in Colorado Springs on a hybrid work arrangement. The position centers on embedded hardware development for handheld network testing equipment, encompassing schematic entry, PCB layout, FPGA/VHDL, power and thermal management, and high‑speed networking interfaces, with collaborative work across software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams. This role demands a seasoned professional who can design robust hardware subsystems while aligning with product goals and global compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware systems that include circuit boards, processors, memory subsystems, LCDs, touch screens, and high‑speed network interfaces using Cadence Allegro tools.
  • Develop analog circuits for rechargeable batteries, low‑voltage power supplies, USB power delivery, and hardware systems for measuring resistance and power‑over‑Ethernet parameters.
  • Create hardware design specifications and documentation for new products.
  • Collaborate with software developers during board bring‑up.
  • Coordinate with PCB layout resources for placement and routing to meet signal integrity requirements.
  • Interface with PCB layout and manufacturing teams for PCB/A fabrication and testing.
  • Provide support for currently shipping products when component or product issues arise and implement design changes as needed.
  • Specify new parts, vendors, and schematic part symbols as required for new designs.
  • Interface with the PLM system for specification and control of component parts and bill of materials.
  • Engage with component vendors for selection and preparation of detailed specifications for new components.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineers to design and release products into manufacturing.
  • Understand and implement thermal management solutions based on early thermal modeling, bench testing, and chamber testing to deliver cost‑effective solutions.
  • Work to extend battery life by early power budgeting and applying power reduction techniques.
  • Support EMI/ESD pre‑scans and testing and apply mitigating design techniques to meet global compliance criteria needed for shipping.

Requirements

  • Experience with PCB/A design for high‑speed networking interfaces and embedded CPU subsystems.
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
  • Experience in design of embedded CPU sub‑systems.
  • Knowledge of high‑speed communication bus design and layout techniques such as USB, PCIe, XFI.
  • Familiarity with DDR4/DDR5 memory design, and I2C and SPI buses.
  • Knowledge of hardware debugging equipment, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers. Experience with EMI and ESD compliance testing and design mitigation strategies.
  • BS or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related experience. Minimum 10 years of experience.
