Job Description
Join Pfeiffer Vacuum and support embedded software and electronics across operations, supply chain, and R&D. This onsite role in Yreka, CA focuses on troubleshooting, documentation, and validation, with hands-on work that spans the software, firmware, and hardware life cycle. You will also help keep manufacturing and test equipment running and improve quality through automated tests and test benches.
Responsibilities
- Validate, document, and manage software, firmware, electronics hardware, and test equipment for products.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines, product management, operations, and supply chain teams.
- Support remote and supplier on-site troubleshooting and problem solving for existing products.
- Provide support for manufacturing and troubleshooting of current and future products.
- Create and maintain documentation for suppliers.
- Develop and maintain automated tests and test benches to verify accurate product functionality and high-quality results.
- Participate in the full development life cycle from concept through integration, test, and release for software, firmware, and hardware.
- Engage with other development teams within the Pfeiffer Vacuum group to ensure conformance with existing product platforms and communication protocols, processes, and procedures.
- Perform hands-on problem solving, including maintaining and repairing tools such as soldering and test cable preparation.
- Address and resolve equipment-related issues tied to technical problems or quality concerns by proposing timely and effective solutions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of related experience in software and electronics engineering (or evidence of high aptitude to learn with additional job-specific education).
- Education as technicians or a bachelor’s degree in Software or Electrical Engineering (or an equivalent combination of education and training).
- Ability to exercise judgment, discretion, and tact in business matters and business relationships.
- Strong interpersonal skills with regular attendance and punctuality; ability to contribute to teamwork and maintain clear, cooperative working relationships.
- Self-starter mindset with motivation, creativity, flexibility, and ability to multi-task while staying deadline oriented.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize and complete multiple competing tasks in a limited schedule.
- System and component troubleshooting experience, including technical support experience; direct experience with downstream pressure control systems and vacuum valves is preferred.
- Professional communication skills across coworkers, subordinates, customers, and other departments.
- Technical writing skills, including engineering test protocols, engineering test reports, and manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures.
- Familiarity with engineering documentation processes, including software documentation such as block-diagrams, flow charts, and SW version control.
- Ability to record and evaluate test data and adjust designs to meet national and international safety, performance, and efficiency standards.
- Familiarity with software test methodologies and architecture, including a Jenkins environment with HIL.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as GIT or Subversion.
- Ability to share product and process knowledge to continuously improve, plus preparation and delivery of technical meetings or presentations.
- CAD-related updates such as routine layouts, detail drawings, sketches, diagrams revisions, and CAD drawing updates.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Sharepoint (or equivalents).
- Position may require travel and overnight stays on workdays and weekends.
- Valid driver license.

Work Environment
This role is onsite with a mix of settings: 70% inside in a climate and noise-controlled office environment and 30% in a manufacturing environment. Lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required on occasion, and eye and hearing protection and other personal protective equipment may be needed.
Work includes walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and frequent lifting and pushing/pulling, along with computer skills for programming, word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry. Employees working from home (as applicable) are expected to comply with core work hours or in-person attendance requirements for company meetings or events.
