Embedded Control Systems Engineer
Job Description
Trane Technologies is seeking an Embedded Control Systems Engineer based in Minneapolis, MN to support global control system engineering for transport refrigeration and auxiliary power systems. In this role, you will help convert customer and product needs into requirements, system architectures, and technical specifications across the embedded controller development lifecycle, while partnering with internal teams and external stakeholders to keep projects moving.
You will provide engineering support for transport refrigeration units and auxiliary power units, coordinating electronics and software design efforts to ensure requirements are captured and that documentation and milestones stay on track. You will also collaborate with product management, project management, and platform teams to help ensure new products meet performance expectations, including aligning technical performance with system platform requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide global control system engineering support of transport refrigeration units and auxiliary power units.
- Coordinate internal and external efforts for electronics and software design projects to capture product and customer requirements, document designs and specifications, identify necessary milestones, and meet project schedules.
- Partner with product management, project management, and platform teams to support required performance for new products.
- Contribute to assurance that technical performance meets system platform requirements.
- Develop cross-functional leadership and maintain beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to lifecycle projects as required to update product performance.
- Participate in feasibility studies and ideation events with cross-functional teams focused on refrigeration technology.
- Maintain and develop product development tools to improve development, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Work under guidance to ensure development integrates key FMEA and Design for Service and Testability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, with 2+ years of systems engineering experience.
- Experience working with Phase Gate and Agile development methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with the embedded controller development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, integration testing, deployment, and postproduction support is a plus.
