Job Description

HII invites engineers to join Newport News Shipbuilding as an Engineer 3, onsite in Newport News, Virginia. This role centers on supplier surveillance and quality assurance, emphasizing collaboration with customers and internal teams to audit supplier quality management systems, monitor manufacturing processes, and drive corrective actions. You will partner across engineering, supply chain procurement, quality assurance, and manufacturing trades to ensure quality and compliance. Responsibilities

  • Execute a variety of tasks necessary for the ongoing operation of the supplier surveillance program.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal functions, including engineering, supply chain procurement, quality assurance, and manufacturing trades.
  • Oversee, review, and monitor manufacturing processes at supplier facilities.
  • Audit the supplier's quality management system and technical capabilities.
  • Conduct studies to help ensure engineering and procurement specifications are met.
  • Initiate and validate supplier corrective and preventive actions to resolve issues found during assessments.
  • Assist in training and developing suppliers.
  • Investigate or coordinate the investigation and resolution of material-related non-conformances.
  • Interface with internal Procurement and Engineering to facilitate part ordering requirements and communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 5 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
