Job Description
As an Electrical Engineer 1 with HII in Newport News, you will support facilities, plant, project, or crane engineering teams by designing and testing electrical components and systems while assisting with power infrastructure and controls projects. This role sits at the intersection of hands-on development and collaboration with diverse engineering disciplines in a defense-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, development, design, and testing of electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
- Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic applications.
- Provide support to facilities projects and the engineering team across plant, project, or crane engineering streams.
- Design, evaluate, maintain, and troubleshoot power distribution and industrial control systems.
- Plan and execute projects, delivering planning and implementation support.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, peers, and customers.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- ABET-accredited engineering degree.
- Bachelor's degree with 0 years of relevant exempt experience.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations, codes, and standards.
- Ability to design, evaluate, maintain, and troubleshoot power and industrial control systems.
- Foundational electrical knowledge.
- Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD (Word and Excel).
- Strong communication skills with supervisors, peers, and customers.
- No travel required.
