Engineer - ATS Performance Testing and Analysis

Applied Technology Services (ATS) Engineering supports engineering testing and analysis to identify, diagnose, and address technical problems in the Energy Delivery business unit.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with peers to prepare technical reports and specifications, identify and define problems, and drive solutions
• Continually identify and escalate testing or process improvement opportunities
• Participate in identifying innovations and cost-reduction potential across new and existing technologies
• Independently perform routine engineering analysis and lead work to determine scope, schedule, budget, and required resources
• Prepare cost and materials estimates used in client bid proposals
• Support senior peers on more complex tests and projects, including planning, budgeting, and testing activities
• Manage multiple projects concurrently
• Prepare tests and studies
• Evaluate the performance of parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions
• Record test results and make recommendations based on findings
• Develop test protocols, models, and test technologies, and analyze data
• May assist with development of technical policies and procedures
• Modify prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations
• Build breadth or deepen focus within the specialty/discipline over time
• May interface with clients to provide project status or collect additional information
• Ensure client expectations for the project are met

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with emphasis in a discipline related to assignments (for example, mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering)
• 3 years of related experience
• Programming experience, including National Instruments LabVIEW, Python, and MATLAB
• Proficiency in engineering research and testing concepts, theories, practices, methods, and techniques
• Thorough investigative skills
• Good customer service orientation
• Understanding of quality assurance and control concepts and practices
• Good analytical and organizational skills
• Communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills
• Basic team leadership and project management skills

ATS engineering services include consultation to help proactively avoid future problems by specifying equipment, materials, and methods aligned to industry-standard processes, with work spanning technology demonstrations and performance testing and analysis across multiple areas.

Incumbents maintain knowledge of and implement all company and regulatory safety and quality processes and procedures. Selected candidates must live within PG&E’s service territory.
