Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Keeps radiology department equipment at customer sites operational by conducting maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Performs diagnostic maintenance and service on vendor mobile units, stationary radiographic systems, R&F, and DR equipment.
  • Works independently on routine and complex tasks.
  • Documents service activity by completing and submitting service tickets.
  • Maintains accurate time sheets and related submissions.
  • Follows expense reporting requirements.
  • Keeps site logs current and submits logs as required.
  • Manages parts inventory to ensure availability for service calls.
  • Submits FDA reports as required.
  • Ensures radiation badge compliance.
  • Maintains tools and test equipment, including care and calibration.
  • Exercises budgetary responsibility in the use of replacement parts and other costs impacting profitability.
  • Maintains an adequate set of tools and test equipment.
  • Maintains site service documentation and company vehicle maintenance.
  • Assists other field engineers with workload as needed.
  • Available for on-call shifts and travel for training as required.
  • Collaborates with end users to troubleshoot issues and identify timely solutions.
  • Diagnoses system problems and leverages available resources to resolve them promptly.
  • Supports field sales in identifying service sales opportunities, including service agreements, contracts, and new business opportunities.
  • Shares knowledge with coworkers and contributes to a collaborative team environment to meet objectives.
  • Maintains high performance by minimizing repeat calls, completing tasks promptly, seeking additional assignments, following manufacturer procedures, and planning work schedules.
  • Upholds Shimadzu's Vision, Mission and Values in all interactions with customers, coworkers and suppliers.
  • Follows all customer and company policies, procedures and safety standards.
  • Performs duties professionally and respectfully, safeguarding customer needs and patient privacy.
  • Provides mentoring to level 1 Engineers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of installation and service experience with DR detectors and Radiographic Medical Imaging Equipment.
  • Military or Vocational training is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable; travel via car to customer sites.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to follow a schematic diagram.
  • Computer skills with knowledge of DICOM, Microsoft Windows applications, and networking.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Willingness to serve on-call duty on a scheduled rotation.
  • Quality and customer service driven to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Team player who is willing to go above and beyond to help others.
  • Good time management; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possible overnight travel and extended stays on short notice, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Scopes, meters, and test equipment provided; must have personal hand tools.

Education & Certifications

  • Associates degree in Electronics preferred or equivalent military training.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of installation and service of DR detectors and Radiographic Medical Imaging Equipment.
  • Military/Vocational training a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • On-call rotation after six months, requiring 24 x 7 availability via phone or pager.
  • May work beyond normal hours to support emergency service.
  • Ability to lift and carry various sub-assemblies.
  • On-call, standby, and overtime may be assigned.
  • Travel to other locations as required.
  • Ability to repair in cramped or difficult access areas.
  • Typically works in a hospital or imaging center.
  • May be exposed to x-ray radiation.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and carry equipment up or down stairs.
  • Occasional overnight travel and extended stays may be necessary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
