Co-Diagnostics Inc. is seeking a Medical Device Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of automated diagnostic instruments from Salt Lake City, with on-site work. This senior position oversees a cross-functional team of mechanical and electrical engineers, guiding product development from concept through production while aligning with the company’s strategic objectives. The role carries a salary range of USD 100,000 to 140,000 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) with at least seven years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, providing guidance, support, and professional development.
- Set clear goals and expectations for the team, ensuring alignment with the engineering department's strategic objectives.
- Manage multiple product development projects, ensuring they follow the product development process, and meet the design and risk deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, scientific team, and marketing to ensure the successful development and launch of new products.
- Approve timesheet and vacation requests in Paylocity.
- Communicate effectively with management.
- Coordinate effectively with other departments throughout Co-Dx.
- Oversee product development lifecycle, from concept through to production.
- Ensure they meet user needs and design inputs.
- Lead the team in the creation of verification and validation protocols, reports, and plans.
- Creation of design and risk matrix's and other required DHF documents.
- Lead technical reviews and ensure that products meet the product development requirements for each phase gate completion.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the product development team, focusing on improving performance, reducing costs, and improving product quality.
- Implement best practices in product development methodologies, technologies, and processes.

Working Conditions
- May be required to wear PPE such as lab coat, face mask, hair net, safety glasses and/or face shields, safety gloves, and other safety equipment as needed.
- May work a variety of shifts that include a traditional workday (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, etc.), a 9/8/80 schedule with every other Friday off, or other shifts as may be assigned.
- Remote work is not available for this role.
Physical Requirements
- This job requires long periods of sitting or standing.
- There will be stooping, bending, and twisting while gathering materials needed for experiments.
- Based on the nature of the experiments to be performed, the ambient air temperature and/or humidity levels may fluctuate.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Fine motor coordination with hand and finger dexterity. Good visual acuity including color perception.
