Field Service Engineer

JEOL USA, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to deliver routine service, installation, and maintenance of JEOL scientific instruments across assigned service territories. This onsite role in Boise, ID includes representing JEOL at customer sites to troubleshoot, repair, and coordinate with clients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently diagnose and repair electron microscopes within the service territory
• Systematically analyze the root cause of issues impacting customer instrumentation
• Resolve equipment problems, or prepare reports documenting findings and recommendations
• Communicate with clients, vendors, and supervisors to support customer satisfaction

Products and Systems

Field service technicians are responsible for routine service, installation, and maintenance of JEOL products including:

• Electron microscopes
• Scanning probe microscopes
• Ion beam microscopes and electron beam lithography instrumentation

Requirements

• Education: Associate’s degree in an appropriate area of engineering and/or science
• Experience: Minimum 6 months related experience
• Troubleshooting: Solid electromechanical understanding and troubleshooting experience
• Electronics: Knowledge of and ability to apply analog and digital electronics
• Travel and travel documents: Valid license and passport; up to 30% overnight travel is anticipated
• Customer service: Excellent customer service skills
• Electronics experience requirement: electronics: 1 year (Required)
• Willingness to travel: 25% (Required)

Training and On-the-Job Support

• 2 week training program
• 6 months on-the-job training

Compensation and Employment Details

• Salary: USD 60,000 to 65,000 per year
