Job Description

Based in Pueblo, Colorado, this onsite role at Trane Technologies centers on leading chiller testing and the operation of test stands. The HVAC/Chiller Manufacturing Test Engineer will develop and deploy test plans, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and drive processes that enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of test technicians and oversee test stand facilities to deliver strong customer outcomes.
  • Drive first pass yield improvements and reduce defects per unit through targeted initiatives.
  • Create test plans and procedures to validate chillers against customer specifications.
  • Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of test stands.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to ensure a superior customer experience.
  • Support the launch of new products with early containment planning and execution.
  • Maintain updated SOPs, visual aids, formats, and quality records in line with the Trane QMS.
  • Ensure testing complies with AHRI/ASRHE standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for product failures.
  • Maintain test equipment and laboratory tools while contributing to continuous improvement of testing processes and product quality.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal communication, customer-focused mindset, team orientation, results-driven approach, and solid computer skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field preferred.
  • Experience with automation, controls, data acquisition, and instrumentation hardware/software.
  • Design or application experience in HVAC products, thermodynamics, heat transfer, controls, electrical power, refrigerant systems, and compressor technology.
  • Familiarity with AHRI and standards such as ASHRAE and ASME.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Tableau; experience with Access and SharePoint is a plus.
  • Effective written and oral communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience using problem-solving tools such as 9 Step, 8D, or A3 to drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ability to organize tasks and manage time to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Experience leading teams and managing people.
