Lead Data Engineer
Job Description
Lead Data Engineer responsible for owning the design, implementation, and evolution of Fiberutilities Group's data integration ecosystem with external partners and service providers in a hybrid remote role based in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Responsibilities
- Direct the complete architecture and design of data integration flows with external partners and service providers
- Architect, build, and sustain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and load external data into Azure SQL
- Establish data modeling standards, schemas, and data contracts for external data domains and ensure consistency across datasets
- Implement data quality frameworks to monitor and improve data reliability
- Apply machine learning and advanced techniques to enhance data cleansing, matching, and enrichment
- Set and enforce best practices, coding standards, and review processes for data engineering work
Requirements
- 7+ years in data architecture or data engineering roles
- Extensive experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure-centric environments
- 2+ years in senior or leadership roles
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience
- Data engineering experience: 7+ years (Preferred)
- Azure ETL/ELT pipeline development: 1 year (Preferred)
- Lead or Senior-level experience: 1 year (Preferred)
