Mid-Level UI/UX Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Mid-Level UI/UX Engineer to contribute to the Maru Program in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The role focuses on shaping user-friendly, production-ready front-end interfaces for mission-critical applications within an Agile, DevSecOps, and cloud-native ecosystem.

Salary

USD 87,100 - 157,450 per year

Responsibilities

• UI/UX Design & Implementation: design and implement intuitive, responsive web interfaces for applications
• User Experience Optimization: translate complex workflows into simple, efficient user journeys that boost usability and adoption
• Front-End Development: build and maintain front-end components using modern frameworks such as React or Angular
• Usability & Accessibility: ensure applications meet usability standards and accessibility best practices
• Design Systems: contribute to and maintain consistent design patterns, components, and style guides
• User Research & Feedback: gather and incorporate user feedback to continuously improve interface design and functionality
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work closely with backend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to align UI/UX with system capabilities
• Performance Optimization: improve front-end performance, responsiveness, and scalability

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field
• Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 2–6 years of relevant experience
• Technical proficiency: strong experience with front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
• UI frameworks: hands-on experience with modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
• Design of user-centered interfaces for complex applications
• UX principles, usability, and interaction design knowledge
• Experience working in Linux-based environments
• Ability to translate user needs into functional design solutions
• U.S. Citizenship
• Active TS/SCI with the ability to pass a Polygraph examination
