Mid-Level UI/UX Engineer
Job Description
Leidos is seeking a Mid-Level UI/UX Engineer to contribute to the Maru Program in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The role focuses on shaping user-friendly, production-ready front-end interfaces for mission-critical applications within an Agile, DevSecOps, and cloud-native ecosystem.

Salary
USD 87,100 - 157,450 per year
Responsibilities
- UI/UX Design & Implementation: design and implement intuitive, responsive web interfaces for applications
- User Experience Optimization: translate complex workflows into simple, efficient user journeys that boost usability and adoption
- Front-End Development: build and maintain front-end components using modern frameworks such as React or Angular
- Usability & Accessibility: ensure applications meet usability standards and accessibility best practices
- Design Systems: contribute to and maintain consistent design patterns, components, and style guides
- User Research & Feedback: gather and incorporate user feedback to continuously improve interface design and functionality
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: work closely with backend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to align UI/UX with system capabilities
- Performance Optimization: improve front-end performance, responsiveness, and scalability
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 2–6 years of relevant experience
- Technical proficiency: strong experience with front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
- UI frameworks: hands-on experience with modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
- Design of user-centered interfaces for complex applications
- UX principles, usability, and interaction design knowledge
- Experience working in Linux-based environments
- Ability to translate user needs into functional design solutions
- U.S. Citizenship
- Active TS/SCI with the ability to pass a Polygraph examination
