Outside Plant Engineer

Ziply Fiber offers a stable, on-site engineering role in Everett, WA, with a salary range of $70,413 to $104,830 per year. The Outside Plant Engineer will apply engineering expertise to telecommunications outside plant within a local serving exchange, collaborating across teams to support growth, replacements, and upgrades. This is an onsite role rooted in cross-functional partnership and practical design from the ground up.

Responsibilities
- Engineering design for outside plant projects locally and support for ZFB Build projects
- Proactive review of outside plant facilities to identify upgrades and enhancements
- Coordinate with utilities to use joint trench in project design and construction
- Attend preconstruction meetings for project designs
- Frontline project management for construction activities related to outside plant
- Communicate with state, county, city, and national indices to obtain information on planned growth and changes
- Collaborate with peers and departments to ensure thorough project planning
- Apply for all required permits (State, DNR, City, County, Townships)
- Maintain and investigate ROWs and easements for releases; respond to DORs as needed
- Maintain accurate cable records and updates; update records according to as-builts
- Prepare cost estimates for BDTs; assist in annual budget design
- Support sales, marketing, operations, and regulatory teams as needed
- Perform other duties to support the business and evolving organization
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of three (3) years in an outside plant position
- Outside plant construction project management and inventory management experience
- Experience with ROW, private easements, and permitting with local, state, and federal entities
- Working knowledge of outside plant design, including cable count layouts and capacity planning
- Valid State Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
- Pre-employment drug screening completion
- Knowledge of outside plant activity and engineering tools, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication, and customer-relations skills
- Interpersonal ability to collaborate with the Engineering team, regional managers, vendors, and technicians
- Ability to manage multiple projects at different stages and meet deadlines
- Ability to drive for the company in a safe and responsible manner

Physical Requirements
