Plant Engineer
Job Description
The Plant Engineer at Linde supports HyCO and CO2 hydrogen production facilities in the East Chicago area, delivering technical guidance, reinforcing process safety, and driving improvements in safety, compliance, efficiency, productivity, and reliability.
Position Summary
The role focuses on providing technical support to plant operations and maintenance, guiding the turnaround organization, and stewarding process safety across assigned units. It also emphasizes safety and environmental compliance while delivering initiatives that enhance efficiency and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance to plant operations, maintenance, and turnaround teams to optimize daily plant performance
- Lead process safety stewardship across all aspects, including Process Safety Information, Change Management, Hazard Analysis, and abnormal situation management
- Support safety and environmental compliance for designated units
- Develop and support initiatives aimed at achieving efficiency targets
- Contribute to cost-saving efforts to meet productivity targets
- Actively support reliability initiatives through root cause analysis, idea generation, and small project execution
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
- 3-5 years of related experience, with 1 or more years in Hydrogen, Carbon Monoxide, and/or Carbon Dioxide manufacturing preferred
- Process simulation modeling experience with UniSim, Aspen, or Hysis
- Flexibility in work schedule to support operations during startup, shutdown, or unplanned events
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevated levels
- Willingness to travel in the North Enclave and to other HyCO/USIG plants up to 10% of the time
