Job Description
Dataforth is seeking a Production Test & Support Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and maintain production test hardware and software for its Tucson, AZ operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and assemble robust production test hardware, including interface circuitry, test head enclosures, wiring harnesses, and integrated safety features.
- Develop and maintain test software and programs for device communication over digital interfaces, instrument control, test sequencing, database integration, and comprehensive data logging.
- Lead the design of innovative test solutions for Dataforth's next generation product lines.
- Maintain and enhance existing test hardware and software used across all production lines to ensure uptime and measurement accuracy.
- Own technical execution, scheduling, and cost considerations for assigned test development projects with autonomy guided by defined requirements.
- Collaborate closely with design engineers and manufacturing personnel to ensure seamless test integration and alignment with product requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or closely related field.
- Minimum 4 years of direct experience designing, developing, and implementing product test solutions spanning hardware and software.
- Strong foundation in analog and digital circuit design relevant to test fixtures and interfaces.
- Proficiency in a test automation or instrument control language such as LabVIEW, Python, C#, or C++.
- Hands-on experience with standard and high-performance test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, analytical mindset, and strong documentation skills.
- Effective communication skills and ability to document processes clearly.
- Experience interfacing with databases for test data storage and retrieval.
- Mechanical design aptitude or CAD experience for enclosures and fixtures is a plus.
- Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART, USB, and Ethernet communication protocols.
