Job Description

The Project Engineer role at Alliant Systems supports Project Managers by coordinating documentation, schedules, procurement, and communications for HVAC and plumbing mechanical construction projects. This onsite position in Bend, Oregon involves travel to local job sites with opportunities to grow into project management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize field documentation
  • Lead site setup, mobilization, project administration, and closeout activities
  • Generate equipment requisitions in collaboration with Purchasing
  • Research, prepare, and present proposals
  • Produce cost control reports and expense summaries
  • Achieve performance targets established by the department manager
  • Plan and monitor project progress and schedules
  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and estimates; prepare change orders
  • Draft subcontracts, purchase orders, field correspondence, and job write-ups
  • Coordinate equipment procurement with purchasing and external vendors to order and expedite materials
  • Support development of subcontractor Scope of Work
  • Contribute to monthly financial reporting
  • Assist with RFP processes and procurement
  • Develop site-specific work plans
  • Produce billing breakdowns and substantiate billings
  • Assist with submittals, operations and maintenance manuals, air balance logs, and as-built records
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Uphold Alliant safety program principles to maintain proactive project safety
  • Communicate project status and concerns in a timely and clear manner with staff and customers
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years of prior construction Project Engineer experience with a mechanical contractor
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, NavisWorks, and Bluebeam
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, contracts, proposals, and estimates
  • Technical experience including detailed submittal and installation drawing review, dimension checking, and material compliance; prior experience with mechanical and plumbing systems is desirable
  • Moderate understanding of accounting principles
  • Effective collaboration with customers, technicians, sales, office and field personnel
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set goals and consistently meet deadlines
  • History of reliable attendance
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving customers
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Compensation

Salary range: USD 90,000 to 115,000 per year
