Project / Machine Design Engineer

The Project / Machine Design Engineer will design, build, and optimize custom equipment and lead projects from concept through installation on Sioux Chief's production lines.

Responsibilities

• Design, assemble, and refine custom equipment that drives innovation across our production lines.
• Lead projects from concept through installation, coordinating timelines, budgets, and tangible results.
• Develop and refine in-house machine components while specifying purchased parts as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on automation design, product performance, and process improvements.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing systems and processes to drive ongoing improvements.
• Train operators, maintenance staff, and integrators on your designs to ensure safety and reliability.
• Partner with fellow engineers to push boundaries in our R&D shop.

Requirements

• An A.S. degree or equivalent technical training, plus at least 5 years of machine design experience.
• Solid mechanical fundamentals with strong 3D design skills using Autodesk Inventor.
• Working knowledge of PLC programming, automation, pneumatics, and robotics.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the drive to shepherd projects from initial sketch to full production.
• Collaborative mindset, curiosity, and the confidence to innovate in a fast-paced environment.
