Hendrick Technical Solutions offers an onsite opportunity in Charlotte, NC for a Robotic Software Engineer. Responsibilities
- Robotics Software Design & Development: design, develop, and integrate production-quality, field-reliable software for UxV platforms and robotic prototypes from concept through fielded capability.
- Software Development: develop, implement, and optimize robotic control and autonomy software, primarily using ROS2, Python, and C++.
- Hardware/Software Integration: work hands-on with sensors, actuators, computer hardware, and end user devices to bring up and integrate systems; provide electrical troubleshooting as needed to ensure reliable, field-ready performance.
- Subsystem Integration: integrate adjacent robot components and subsystems such as compute modules, BMS, chargers, and power/communications interfaces, ensuring robust bring-up, reliable data exchange, and clean integration into the robotics software stack.
- Rapid Integration & Turnaround: execute fast-turnaround integration projects to bring up new capabilities quickly, iterate with urgency, and deliver dependable results under aggressive timelines.
- System Operations: manage and maintain software repositories with Git, operate in a Linux development environment, and help establish disciplined development workflows (builds, testing, and release practices) that support reliable deployments.
- Problem Solving & Refinement: apply a thorough approach to identify and solve complex technical challenges, continually refining products beyond initial specifications.
- Collaboration & Communication: act as a trusted partner within multidisciplinary teams, effectively sharing technical information and producing high-quality written work.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, robotics, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience in a production environment, delivering reliable, maintainable code suitable for field use.
- Android and edge compute proficiency for robotics and embedded computers (eg, Raspberry Pi, Jetson).
- Experience with ROS2, Python, and C++, focusing on building and debugging nodes and sensor/actuator integration.
- Front-end development experience and operator interfaces for tele-operation and unmanned system control.
- Ability to augment workflows with AI coding tools to accelerate development, improve quality, and shorten delivery timelines.
- Proficiency in sensor integration, including drivers, configuration/calibration, and dependable use of data within a robotics software stack.
- Proven CAN bus experience: integrating, debugging, and validating CAN-based devices and networks in a robotics environment.
- Git proficiency and strong Linux skills; hands-on with software quality practices (unit and integration testing, debugging, code reviews) and CI/CD in Linux.
- Highly independent, capable of defining technical roadmaps and managing deadlines from concept to delivery.
- Confident and articulate communicator for internal discussions and external presentations; capable of representing Hendrick well in interactions.
- Very thorough in approach, consistently seeking ways to refine products.
- Genuine interest in defense robotics and contributing to the field;Produces high-quality, professional written work.

Bonus Skills & Knowledge
