Senior Civil Engineer

P. W. Grosser Consulting - Environmental Engineers is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to strengthen its civil engineering practice in Bohemia, New York. This on-site role calls for a seasoned professional with a strong background in site development, utilities, drainage, and regulatory permitting, including SWPPP and SEQRA compliance. The successful candidate will contribute to residential and commercial projects, guiding multidisciplinary work from feasibility through permitting and execution.

Responsibilities

• Design and coordinate multidisciplinary projects from due diligence and site feasibility studies through site engineering for residential and commercial developments, advancing regulatory approvals and full permitting.
• Develop site layout and design, including grading, storm drainage, roadway design, water and sewer infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, and utilities.
• Prepare hydrology and hydraulic calculations and apply NYSDEC stormwater management and SWPPP requirements.
• Manage project administration, including drafting reports, gathering information, writing proposals and correspondence, tracking costs, and producing progress reports.
• Prepare engineer's opinion of probable costs for designed projects and develop bid specifications for public solicitations.
• Coordinate with other engineering and architectural departments within the firm.
• Communicate directly with clients to support and coordinate all project activities.
• Ensure on-time, on-budget, high-quality technical delivery of project requirements.
• Mentor junior engineering staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience.
• Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills.
• Design experience with a focus on site development or municipal engineering projects.
• Solid knowledge of civil engineering principles and related technical areas.
• Familiarity with the design of public infrastructure and the public bidding process.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently or within project teams; team-spirited and capable of independent decision making.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• EIT required; PE desired.

Salary

Salary range: USD 100,000 - 130,000 per year. This is an exempt, full-time position.
