Job Description
The Opportunity
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer drives business growth by pursuing new opportunities, cross selling SME services, and preparing project plans and reports. The role also includes mentoring and guiding team members to ensure the successful completion of assigned responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Identify and secure clients and project opportunities, working independently or in support of local, regional, and corporate business development activities.
- Develop compelling proposals and negotiate fees and contract terms for professional services.
- Engage with professional and business organizations and other networking activities to strengthen relationships with current and prospective clients.
- Learn about other SME services to promote and expand geotechnical and related SME offerings to new and existing clients.
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for earth retention, grouting, deep foundation, and reinforced earth systems projects.
- Perform analytical modeling to support geotechnical evaluations.
- Prepare geotechnical evaluation reports.
- Mentor and lead project team members to ensure the successful completion of assigned responsibilities.
Requirements
- Proficiency with computer operating systems and the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly convey technical information to clients, teammates, and supervisors.
- Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to prioritize, manage multiple workloads, and maintain meticulous records, including field observations, safety concerns, and problem resolutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and team members, fostering positive working relationships and delivering attentive, client-focused service.
- Ability to adapt to change and respond productively to frequent interruptions and shifting conditions.
- Fundamental construction competencies, including locating features from surveys, road maps, aerial photos, topographic maps, and geologic maps; understanding stakes set by others and utility color markings.
- A general aptitude for identifying and resolving complex technical problems in the field using critical thinking and logical reasoning.
- Demonstrates ethical conduct, maintains confidentiality and safety, and adheres to safety protocols and guidelines to foster a safe working environment for all.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds, walking on uneven ground, carrying equipment, working in various weather conditions, and traveling to different locations.
