Job Description

Located in Fishers, Indiana, SME seeks a senior geotechnical professional to take the lead on client engagements and expand the practice in the region. This role blends business development with hands-on technical work, project preparation, and team mentorship to ensure high-quality deliverables and sustained growth.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new clients and project opportunities independently or in coordination with local, regional, and corporate business development initiatives.
  • Prepare compelling proposals and negotiate professional service fees and contracts.
  • Identify and participate in professional and business organizations and other networking activities to strengthen relationships with current and prospective clients.
  • Learn about additional SME services to promote and broaden geotechnical and related SME offerings to both new and existing clients.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for earth retention, grouting, deep foundation, and reinforced earth systems projects.
  • Complete analytical modeling for geotechnical evaluations.
  • Prepare geotechnical evaluation reports.
  • Mentor and lead project team members to ensure the successful completion of assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Competent with computer operating systems and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with clients, team members, and supervisors.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to prioritize, manage workloads, maintain thorough records, and document field observations, safety concerns, and resolutions.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and colleagues, employing a client-centric approach to service delivery.
  • Ability to adapt to change and respond productively to interruptions and evolving conditions.
  • Basic construction competencies, including locating features from surveys, maps, aerial photos, topographic and geologic maps; understanding stakes set by others and utility markings.
  • Aptitude for identifying and solving complex technical problems in the field using critical thinking and logic.
  • Demonstrated ethical conduct, maintaining confidentiality and upholding safety protocols to foster a secure work environment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, walk on uneven surfaces, carry equipment, work in various weather conditions, and travel to different sites.
