Job Description

Senior OT Applications and Data Engineer role at QUARIQ in Houston, TX, focusing on hands-on implementation, integration, and support of OT systems and data solutions for process manufacturing, with mentoring and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and configure ISA-95 Level 3 systems (SCADA, BES, Historian, MES, CMMS, LIMS) following AG practices and industry standards, and interface them with Level 2 control and Level 4 business systems.
  • Establish real-time data pipelines from OT assets (PLC, SCADA) to enterprise platforms (ERP, data lakes) ensuring reliable data flow.
  • Contextualize live OT data to produce actionable insights that support decision making.
  • Configure and integrate manufacturing data hubs or Unified Namespace (UNS) to enable accessible data across OT and IT domains.
  • Implement Operational Intelligence and Industry Solutions to address data-driven use cases.
  • Provide ongoing OT application support, troubleshoot issues, and maintain system stability and performance.
  • Collaborate with AG, customer, and partner OT architects, IT teams, and business units to ensure proper configuration, data integration, and alignment with operational needs.
  • Mentor junior engineers, guiding technical development, problem solving, and adherence to best practices.
  • Contribute to knowledge management by documenting best practices, troubleshooting guides, and standardized procedures; work with peers to improve integration and data solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in operational technology, industrial automation, digital manufacturing, or data engineering.
  • 4-year degree in Engineering, IT, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in process manufacturing environments such as Pharma, Biotech, Food & Beverage, Chemical, or Energy.
  • Hands-on experience with OT applications and systems including SCADA, DCS, Historians, MES, and CMMS.
  • Hands-on scripting/programming experience and proficiency with SQL.
  • Background in real-time data integration, contextualization, and data flow management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills applicable to both processes and systems.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers in technical skills and best practices.
  • English proficiency at C1 level or higher (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Work Environment

  • Preferred location: Houston, TX
  • Work model: Hybrid for Houston-based candidates; remote for those located elsewhere
  • Travel: Up to 50% travel to company, customer, and event locations globally; approximately 75% in North America and 25% in other regions
  • Physical requirements: Use of PPE at customer sites; ability to lift up to 40 pounds; ability to walk, stand, and climb for extended periods; navigate indoor/outdoor work sites in varying weather and conditions; traverse industrial structures and uneven surfaces
