Job Description

Senior Software Engineer, Core Systems & Libraries, onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA, delivering architecture and tooling for avionics with DO-178 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design core software components, libraries, and tooling aligned to avionics system requirements
  • Provide technical direction across development and verification activities for safety-critical software in DO-178 contexts
  • Define software requirements, perform decomposition, and establish traceability across complex systems
  • Develop and verify software using modern C++ and object-oriented design principles
  • Create DO-178 certification artifacts, including DAL-A deliverables
  • Support certification efforts with engagement from customers and regulatory authorities
  • Participate in peer reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and lifecycle compliance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, program leadership, and customers to align technical solutions with program goals
  • Willing and able to travel as required, domestic and international up to 10%

Requirements

  • Education: STEM degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with at least 3 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship required to access information under the program/contract
  • Proven experience designing and developing software architecture, libraries, or platform-level components in aerospace or safety-critical environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical execution, including customer engagement and stakeholder presentations
  • Hands-on experience supporting DO-178 software development and certification activities, such as requirements, verification, or certification artifacts

Compensation

Salary: USD 86,800 - 165,200 per year
