Software Engineer: Automation/AI - Level 2 or 3

Software Automation Engineer role supporting AI/ML-enabled workflows in Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug application software and systems
• Automate workflows and processes by building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and AI applications in a DevOps environment
• Develop and maintain containerized applications to support portability, scalability, and reliability
• Support infrastructure by troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, and maintaining high availability
• Maintain strong written and verbal communication practices
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Education and experience match one of the following:
  • PhD with 1 year of professional experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s with specified professional experience (Master’s: 3 years; Bachelor’s: 5 years)
  • Will consider 4+ additional years of experience in lieu of degree
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
• Hands-on experience working in Linux, including scripting and system configuration
• Proficiency in Python or GOLang, with strong skills in software development, debugging, and testing
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD, version control systems, and automated pipelines for application deployment
• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying AI and/or Machine Learning (ML) solutions
• Familiarity with APIs and integrating models into applications or agentic frameworks such as Mastra or LangChain
• Strong understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), including fine-tuning, hosting, and inference optimization
• Experience developing and hosting AI/ML models in cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) or on-premise containerized infrastructure
• Familiarity with vector databases and retrieval-augment

Level, Salary, and Application Timing

• Primary level salary range: $79,300 - $118,900 (USD)
• Secondary level salary range: $98,400 - $123,000 (USD)
• Application period: estimated 20 days from the job posting date
